Chapter 66: Thirty Days

There were decisions that announced themselves and decisions that waited until every escape had closed.

The team launches a community campaign to save the inn. Adrian works beside volunteers who know nothing about his former status.

Adrian understood that the next choice would be remembered long after the explanation. They had become unusually honest since the divorce began. Honesty did not make the choices easier, but it stopped them from pretending that ease was the same thing as peace.

Claire watches him accept correction from a teenage carpenter and realizes humility has become habit rather than spectacle.
