Chapter 28: The Hand She Kept

By the time the day changed direction, nobody in the room was prepared for where it would lead.

They escape together seconds before the tunnel caves in. On the pavement, Claire realizes she never released Adrian's hand.

Claire understood that the next choice would be remembered long after the explanation. The old marriage had been built on assumptions. Whatever came next would have to survive questions, boundaries, and the possibility that love might not be enough.

Daniel names Victor's security chief, Marcus Shaw, as his captor and confirms the evidence was planted.

"I can prove Adrian was framed, but only if we reach the federal archive before Victor does."

Adrian did not reach for a solution. He stayed, listened, and allowed the consequence to belong to him.
